Gold Hunter Resources Advances the Comprehensive Great Northern Project in Newfoundland
Gold Hunter Resources Inc. has made substantial strides in advancing its Great Northern Project (GNP), located in the White Bay area of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Covering
23,060
Hectares
Covering 23,060 hectares, this project includes the Viking and Jackson’s Arm properties, representing significant gold mineralization potential. GNP is central to Gold Hunter's focus on high-value, resource-rich regions with promising exploration upside.
Unlocking Newfoundland’s Golden Potential
Strategic Advances in the Great Northern Peninsula
Property and Ownership
Through a strategic agreement with Magna Terra Minerals Inc., Gold Hunter has the option to acquire a 100% interest in 13,775 hectares of the Great Northern Peninsula. The remaining land claims were acquired through purchase agreements, expanding the project to a vast 23,060 hectares. This comprehensive strategy positions Gold Hunter to leverage substantial mineral resources and expand its exploration reach.
Historical Exploration
Exploration at the Great Northern Project dates back to the early 1900s, starting with the historic Browning Mine. Subsequent surveys and drilling programs by Noranda Exploration Company Limited and Esso Minerals Canada led to key discoveries, including the Rattling Brook and Thor Deposits. These historical efforts laid the groundwork for Gold Hunter's ongoing exploration initiatives.
Geology and Mineralization
The Great Northern Project’s geological setting is characterized by granitoid gneisses, with mesothermal quartz veins, iron carbonate, and sulfide stockworks. The Thor Deposit on the Viking Property, for instance, hosts 5.46 million tonnes at an average grade of 1.45 g/t Au, revealing high-grade zones and extensive low-grade halos. This geological diversity underscores the GNP’s significant resource potential.
Exploration and Drilling
The Great Northern Projects exploration activities at Viking have covered 253 drill holes over 36,181.8 meters, outlining promising trends such as the Viking Trend, Asgard, Kramer, Loki, and more. Jackson’s Arm has seen 215 drill holes across 30,772 meters, identifying mineralized trends like Incinerator, Furnace, and Jackson’s Arm. These targeted drilling programs are pivotal in delineating the region's gold-bearing trends.
Extensive Data Compilation
As part of our ongoing commitment to thoroughly understanding the Great Northern Project, Gold Hunter Resources has undertaken a major data compilation effort. This extensive dataset includes a substantial amount of historical exploration work, providing us with a strong foundation for future exploration and development.
This extensive data compilation supports informed exploration strategies, allowing Gold Hunter to maximize the potential of the Great Northern Project.
36,739 Soil Samples
7,758 rock samples
506 lake/stream sediment samples
667 till samples
5,734 outcrop observations
493 drill holes totaling 66,417.8 metres of drill core
The Great Northern Project
The Great Northern Project represents a significant opportunity for Gold Hunter Resources Inc. to advance its gold exploration efforts in Newfoundland. The company's strategic approach and commitment to thorough exploration will drive the project's success, positioning Gold Hunter as a leader in the resource sector.
Overview and Highlights
Great Northern Project
Located near Sops Arm, Pollard’s Point, and Jackson’s Arm, the Great Northern Project encompasses a 40 km stretch of the Doucers Valley Fault, a prominent geological feature hosting numerous gold occurrences. Mineralization spans from Precambrian and Ordovician granites to younger volcanic and sedimentary rocks, occurring along splays off the Doucers Valley Fault. This fault system, with origins tied to the Iapetus Ocean's closure, plays a vital role in Newfoundland's mineralization patterns.
01
Completion of Airborne Survey
Gold Hunter is advancing toward the completion of a full property Geotech VTEM airborne survey, which will play a crucial role in prioritizing drill targets. By integrating this new data with the existing datasets, Gold Hunter ensures a focused exploration strategy targeting the most promising areas.
Future Exploration Plans
Strategic Exploration
Gold Hunter has completed a major geological data compilation from various sources, providing a comprehensive foundation for exploration. With the assistance of Magna Terra Minerals Inc. and Mercator Geological Services, Gold Hunter is finalizing an NI 43-101 report and establishing a thorough geological database to guide future exploration efforts.
02
Aggressive Drilling Program
With a priority on adding significant gold ounces, Gold Hunter aims to expand the project’s resource base through targeted drilling on promising areas.
03
Community Backing
A century-long history of mining in northwestern Newfoundland has created a strong community base supportive of mining ventures. Gold Hunter is dedicated to maintaining transparent communication with local communities, fostering positive relationships, and supporting sustainable regional development.
